What does each Nervecept ingredient do?
Each ingredient is sold for a different reason, and most are studied for joints rather than nerves.
Glucosamine sulfate and chondroitin are cartilage-type compounds sold for joint comfort. Frankincense, turmeric, quercetin and bromelain come from plants. Methionine is an amino acid also found in food (Cleveland Clinic, Amino Acids).

Are these typical nerve pain supplement ingredients?
Not really. The best-known supplement for diabetic nerve pain in NCCIH's review, alpha-lipoic acid, is not in Nervecept (NCCIH, Diabetes and Dietary Supplements).
Many nerve pain supplements list B vitamins such as B12. Low B12 can cause numbness and tingling, and that is a case for a blood test, not a guess (NIH ODS, Vitamin B12). Nervecept lists no B vitamin.
| Name | On the Nervecept label? | What the sources say |
|---|---|---|
| Alpha-lipoic acid | No | Inconsistent in 8 studies of diabetic neuropathy (NCCIH, Diabetes and Dietary Supplements) |
| Vitamin B12 | No | Low levels can cause numbness; test first (NIH ODS, Vitamin B12) |
| Biotin | No (sales FAQ only) | Can skew lab tests (NIH ODS, Biotin) |
| Glucosamine sulfate | Yes, 500 mg | Mixed for knees; not studied for nerves (NCCIH, Glucosamine and Chondroitin) |
Cautions06
Do any Nervecept ingredients interact with medicines?
Yes, several can. Ask a pharmacist before you start if you take warfarin or another blood thinner.
Glucosamine and chondroitin have been linked to more bleeding with warfarin (NCCIH, Glucosamine and Chondroitin). Turmeric may add to that risk, and rare liver injury has been reported (MSK, Turmeric) (LiverTox, Turmeric). Glucosamine may raise blood sugar in some people.
The capsule contains shellfish (crayfish). With a shellfish allergy, ask a physician before using it.
Keep taking prescribed medicine as directed. New or worsening numbness, weakness or balance trouble needs a doctor.

Questions about Nervecept ingredients
What is the main ingredient in Nervecept?
The main ingredient is glucosamine sulfate at 500 mg per capsule, about 71.5 percent of the 699 mg listed. It is usually made from shellfish shells, and the label says the capsule contains shellfish (crayfish).
Does Nervecept contain vitamin B12?
No. The label lists no vitamin B12 and no other B vitamin. Low B12 is one known cause of numbness and tingling, so a blood test is the way to check. Ask your doctor before assuming a capsule can fill that gap.
What are the other ingredients in Nervecept capsules?
The other ingredients are hypromellose, which forms the vegetable capsule, and rice flour. They are listed apart from the eight active lines and are not counted in the 699 mg total.
Is there a proprietary blend in Nervecept?
No. The label prints a separate milligram amount for every line, so there is no hidden blend. The sales FAQ uses the phrase "proprietary blend", but the label on the bottle does not, and the label is the better source.
Which Nervecept ingredient has the least research?
MSM and bromelain, at 8 mg each, are the two lines for which we fetched no authoritative source. Methionine has only a general amino acid article. None of the eight lines has nerve research behind it that we could find.
